Our purpose
To bring world quality coffee to the international market while creating employment opportunities for the underserced communities in Kago.
Who we are
At Kago Hill Farm, we are a women-led coffee farm nestled in the picturesque hills of Kambuga, Kanungu District. Our mission is to economically uplift our community by promoting sustainable farming practices and empowering the women who drive our farm. Through our initiatives, we aim to add value to our coffee by processing it from cherry form to drinkable quality. We are dedicated to instilling a coffee-drinking culture among the locals and supporting families to move from subsistence living to achieving a stable and decent income. By combining traditional knowledge with innovative agricultural methods, Kago Hill Farm strives to become a beacon of economic and social transformation in the region.
Our challenges on this journey
Due to the high levels of unemployment in most parts of the district, especially, Kambuga that consists mostly youth. A large youthful population creates both an opportunity and a challenge. It creates opportunity due to the potential demographic dividend from the abundant labor force and future demand. However, owing to the improperly planned investment in socio-economic policies which in turn, has created challenge and the specter of missing the demographic dividend. This problem is aggravated by a discrepancy between skills required for labor markets and knowledge produced by training institutions. Equally, the hindrances of investment capital make it hard for the youth to tap into the available opportunities. This has created the urgent need for skilled, technical and hands-on manpower personnel for the economy. This justifies the relevance of Kambuga-Cherry Farm that aims at filling the lack of information void and strengthening the value chain.
